frogging

Frogging is a yarn crafting term referring to the practice of undoing, generally after realizing one has made a mistake...a while ago, and there is nothing to do but rip it, rip it. In the journey that led me to creating this piece, I found myself not just frogging a whole lot of pieces (like, a whole lot) but also unraveling much of the thought process that had been ingrained in my practice of working with yarn. Follow patterns to the letter. Make things that are wearable, practical, giftable. Yarn crafting is a domestic hobby meant to occupy the minds and hands of women so that they don't dwell on their own oppression, and that of their allies. Well: Frog all of that.
